Students do NOT have to enter the military to attend MMI. Programs are available for both civilian and military students. MMI is a public two-year college and part of the Alabama Community College System.
MMI is a designated prep-school for all five of the U.S. Service Academies. After one year at MMI, the service academy appointment rate is 82%.
Students interested in the U.S. Army can commission as an officer after 2 years. MMI is one of four schools in the country to have the Early Commissioning Program.
