He has performed as a member of the Samford University faculty brass quintet, as a member of the Birmingham-based Super-Jazz Big Band, and as an extra with the Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Greensboro (NC), Winston-Salem (NC), and Roanoke (VA) symphony orchestras. Prior to his arrival at Moody, Dr. Sargent spent nine years on the music faculty of Samford University, served several summers on the faculty of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp (MI), was a teaching assistant at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and served as director of bands at Cleveland High School in the Blount County school system.
